MALIKA Consultation

Sometimes, you need to talk it through.

Every baby is different. If you have questions about development, movement, stimulation, breastfeeding, feeding, or how to respond to your baby's needs, a one-to-one consultation can help you understand the situation and decide on your next steps.

Who this service is for

Parents, parents-to-be, and caregivers who want to better understand their baby's cues, regulation, movement, and developmental needs — especially in the first years.

What you can expect

A calm, non-judgemental conversation, evidence-informed explanations, and practical steps that fit your family's everyday life.

  • Cues, readiness, and response

Learning to read 'ready to engage' and 'needs a pause' signals, and how to respond.

  • Developmentally appropriate play and stimulation

Simple play ideas that follow your baby's current interests and abilities.

  • Movement, positioning, and tummy time

Safe, comfortable positions and opportunities for your baby to move.

  • Responsive caregiving

Finding a warm, predictable rhythm of care in everyday life.

  • Breastfeeding and feeding challenges

Talking through breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and responsive mealtimes.

  • Identifying a need for assessment or referral

Helping you recognise when further assessment by an appropriate health professional may be needed.

Educational consultation, not medical diagnosis

What this consultation does

Helps you understand your baby's behaviour and needs, offers education and practical ideas, and helps you decide whether further assessment may be needed.

What it doesn't do

It does not diagnose, prescribe medication, or replace an examination by a doctor or midwife, or emergency care.
